The study aimed to assess the feasibility and validity of screening adolescent suicide risk in emergency departments (EDs). 81 adolescents, ages 14-19, who screened positive for suicide risk were followed up for 2 months. Results showed 7.4% attempted suicide, and 18.5% engaged in some suicidal behavior, indicating high-risk identification. Those with multiple risk factors were more likely to exhibit future suicidal behavior (38.9%). The study highlights the effectiveness of a comprehensive screening approach in identifying acute risk for suicidal behavior in at-risk adolescents, emphasizing the importance of tailored interventions for this vulnerable group.
