About
The article describes a study on a scald burn prevention program at an urban pediatric hospital. The program aimed to teach caregivers of young children how to prevent scald burns, especially in low-income communities. Caregivers attended a one-hour session with lectures and hands-on activities. Results showed that caregivers improved their ability to identify hot objects from 83% before the program to 92% after it. Most found the program helpful and planned to share what they learned with others. The study highlights the importance of education in preventing burns and suggests hospitals can play a key role in community health education.
