About
This article explores the factors influencing emergency preparedness behaviors among parents in Hawaii. A survey of parents in Honolulu investigated the relationship between demographics, Health Belief Model constructs, and the presence of emergency supplies and family plans. Findings revealed that lower perceived susceptibility to disasters, time barriers, and the need for assistance were associated with a lack of emergency preparedness. Recommendations include tailored interventions to enhance self-efficacy in preparing emergency kits and plans. The study emphasizes the importance of evidence-based strategies to improve readiness for emergencies among families.
