About

This study looks at how child care programs in Michigan were affected by COVID-19 and their emergency preparedness. It shows that many programs had written plans, but some lacked specific plans for infectious outbreaks or special needs children. During the pandemic, 59% of programs closed, and others reduced capacity or changed cleaning methods. The pandemic caused changes in learning and socialization, increased family burdens, financial challenges, and a lack of guidance. The study suggests more support is needed to improve emergency readiness in child care settings.
