About
This article evaluates the performance of the Sacco Triage Method (STM) in pediatric trauma victims using data from the United States' National Trauma Data Base. The STM, originally developed for adult trauma victims, was found to accurately predict mortality in pediatric trauma patients. The study included over 90,000 pediatric records and demonstrated that the STM, with or without age adjustment, had high accuracy in predicting mortality for blunt and penetrating trauma cases. The findings suggest that the STM could be a valid and effective tool for prioritizing the care of injured children, showing promise in improving pediatric trauma triage methods.
