This study examines the wildfire impact on neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) in the Western United States in 2020. It focuses on tools and strategies important for medical professionals in preparing for wildfire disasters. The tools include guidelines and resources to help hospitals ensure the safety of babies, staff, and families. It emphasizes communication, evacuation plans, and maintaining air quality inside NICUs. Surveys and interviews with NICUs in California, Oregon, and SW Washington reveal the need for further preparedness efforts. This research aims to enhance NICU disaster readiness by sharing insights from affected clinicians.
