About
Children are increasingly vulnerable to chemical or biological terrorism, even becoming deliberate targets in recent years. Addressing their needs post-terrorist incidents is crucial. Despite various public health initiatives since September 11, 2001, many have fallen short in safeguarding children. The shift towards an all-hazards approach, blending response plans for terrorism with other disasters, has widened preparedness efforts. This updated policy statement underscores the pivotal roles of pediatricians and public health agencies in ensuring children's safety. Only through a unified approach can emergency protocols, decontamination procedures, and mental health support for children be effectively implemented.Tags
