About
This study looks at how emotional numbing affects children and teens who survived the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake in China. It describes how both positive and negative emotional numbing relate to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms and life quality issues. Over 14,000 young people were studied using special tests for PTSD and life quality. The findings show that those with both types of numbing have the highest risk of severe PTSD symptoms. Numbing only positive emotions has a moderate effect, while just negative emotions have a smaller impact. More research is needed on emotional numbing in young people with PTSD.
