This article discusses the importance of schools being prepared to handle pediatric emergencies by establishing emergency-response plans and training staff and students in first aid and CPR. The study examined the preparedness of schools based on guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Heart Association. Results showed that while many schools have emergency plans in place, areas need improvement, such as practicing the plans regularly, ensuring effective communication with EMS, and increasing availability of AEDs. Efforts should focus on enhancing school nurses' education in managing certain life-threatening emergencies and overall emergency preparedness.
