About

This review examined violence against children during emergencies and natural disasters, events when child protection systems are weakened. Findings reveal that families facing food and shelter insecurity are more likely to commit violence against children. It found that sexual violence against girls and physical violence against boys are common after such events. Factors like poverty, parental substance abuse, and previous exposure to violence make the situation worse. The study suggests humanitarian groups should create plans to reduce these risks during and after disasters by understanding these factors better.
