This study examines the mental health of children five years after the Fukushima nuclear disaster. It describes how peer relationship problems and emotional symptoms were tracked in 7,013 children using surveys from 2011 to 2015. Four patterns of peer issues and five patterns of emotional symptoms were identified. Factors like experiencing the explosion, tsunami, and lack of exercise increased risks for severe issues. Exercise was found to be important for mental health recovery. The research highlights ongoing challenges in children's mental well-being following such disasters and emphasizes promoting exercise as a protective measure against psychological distress.
