This document is designed to help those in child care leadership positions take the steps necessary to ensure the child care community is prepared for the many types of emergencies — natural, technological, and man-made — that occur each year in the United States. These steps include reviewing and revising state child care regulations and providing the training and technical assistance childcare providers need to be prepared for emergencies. Both the National Association of Child Care Resource & Referral Agencies and Save the Children are committed to working alongside the states and federal and community agencies to provide the support child care programs and providers need to protect this nation’s most vulnerable residents and children when emergencies strike.
