About
This article examines age-related racial disparity in suicide rates in the US from 2001 to 2015 using CDC data. While overall suicide rates were lower among black youths, age-specific analysis revealed higher rates among black children aged 5 to 12 and lower rates among black adolescents aged 13 to 17 compared to white counterparts. This age-related racial disparity remained consistent over time. The study highlights the need for targeted suicide prevention strategies for black children and underscores the importance of exploring racial differences in suicide mechanisms and risk factors in future research.Tags
