About
Children remain at risk from influenza, which can lead to severe illness and death. The 2019–2020 flu season saw close to 200 flu-related deaths in children reported to the CDC. It is crucial for clinicians to ensure children, their families, caregivers, and themselves are vaccinated against the flu. Early antiviral treatment can help lessen symptoms and prevent complications, but immunization is the most effective way to safeguard against influenza, even during the challenging COVID-19 pandemic. In a one-hour, nine-minute Clinician Outreach and Communication Activity (COCA) COCA call, experts from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and CDC will address ways in which primary care providers and medical specialists can enhance flu prevention and management in children this season.Tags
