About
Vital signs are crucial for assessing injured children in trauma situations. This study compared the effectiveness of Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) criteria with empirically derived criteria in identifying major trauma in children. The research, using data from US trauma centers, revealed that the empirically derived criteria showed a balance between sensitivity and specificity, performing similarly to PALS and better than ATLS criteria. These findings indicate that using empirically derived vital sign criteria can help identify children at high risk of trauma-related complications, potentially improving outcomes in pediatric trauma cases.Tags
