This article addresses the topic of public health and safety planning ,education and outreach to parents of of children with developmental disabilities to improve the knowledge of the family members to ensure emergency preparedness capabilities . The article concludes that targeted training such as information and skill building to develop effective family preparedness plans and connections to local emergency management and responders is beneficial.
